Why study with us?

The Mirror of Venus

(Edward Burne-Jones)

The CAMS programme is unique in the astrological world as a creative collaboration between four astrologers whose work focuses on the weaving of mythic imagination into astrological chart work.

If your intention is to practise as an astrologer, or you are already engaged in astrological work, what you learn on the course will inspire, shape and deepen your professional practice. The

programme can also be followed simply for personal development and a deeper relationship to the ‘otherworld’ of the psyche, as we experience this through astrology and the symbols of the horoscope.

Put awareness of psyche at the core of astrological work.

Encourage a subjective/participatory mode in the interpretation of charts, to complement and enrich beyond the usual objective/descriptive mode.

Foster an appreciation of the chart as temenos and imaginal landscape.

Allow myths and other archetypal/folkloric narratives and stories to organically inform the interpretation of charts.

Encourage you to identify and explore your own guiding myths.

Provide an intersection between practice and philosophy, encouraging thoughtful, informed, self-aware astrology.

Explore the work of well-known guides in the field: writers and practitioners who can help us deepen into symbolic, psychological and mythopoetic ways of engaging.

  Deepen self-knowledge.

Working with symbols as living presence. Learning to be receptive and go where the symbol leads. Developing awareness of synchronicities and metalogues.

Exercising symbolic imagination in respect of any astrological concept or technique, ancient or modern.

Developing a ‘narrative’ approach to chart interpretation. Working with astrology as a form of ‘narrative medicine’ centred on personal story, rather than explanatory or didactic modes.

Going beyond needing to know ‘what something means’ (astrologer as expert) and allowing the symbols themselves to speak and lead (astrologer as Hermetic companion or guide).

For anyone working (or wanting to work) with clients, developing confidence in using astrology professionally from these perspectives.

Developing a deeper understanding of the astrologer’s role/presence in the client-astrologer relationship. Appreciating one’s own subjective involvement in the showing and outworking of the symbol.

The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.
